These are the main services that Paxton Restoration undertakes on all timber based windows, french doors, doors and other timber installations. Where the weather and the seasons have attacked and damaged timbers, we look to make things right. Using a combination of traditional timber splice repairs and more modern epoxy Resin techniques we look to provide both curative and preventative REMEDIAL repairs.

Our view is that replacement is a matter of the last resort and we'll do whatever we can to save the original timber construction up to the point where repair becomes more expensive than replacement.

We are also looking to improve the energy efficiency of timber windows using DRAUGHT PROOFING to address the common symptoms of draughty, rattling windows, reducing the air permeability (or leakiness!), also reducing noise and dust incursion.

Regarding heat loss through glass, another increasingly popular technique is to apply narrow profile DOUBLE GLAZING to the existing sash windows. In most cases, it's possible to retro-fit the Krypton and Xenon filled units to existing single glazed sash pairs. Although the necessary additional counterweight can sometimes limit the fully open travel of the sash pairs, usually the impact of this is small, whilst providing two to three times the Thermal Efficiency over single glazing.
