Narrow Profile Double Glazing
Paxton can install narrow profile double glazed units into existing sash window pairs and casements.
Historically, fitting double glazing to existing single glazed sash windows has always been difficult, as many sash windows are too narrow to support the additional rebate depth required by double glazed units.
Developments in glazing technology mean Paxton can now offer discreet and ground-breaking
narrow-profile double glazed units, from 11mm rebate depth. This extends the possibility of fitting
double glazed units to a majority of existing box frame and sash windows, with great cost savings by comparison.
Low E (Emissivity) glass reflects long wave radiation back into the room, whilst rejecting a majority of UV radiation from the outside yet allowing maximum visible light to pass. In this way Low E
units
help keep rooms cool in summer and warm in winter. Paxton uses leading brands Slimlite®(Pilkington) and Timbalite® (Saint-Gobain) both using Low E technology combined with an energy efficient warm
edge spacer and filled with insulating Inert Gasses ideal for compression (krypton and xenon).
In terms of the environmental impact, single glazing is rated at 5.5 – 6 U-value, whereas the double glazed units improve the thermal efficiency between 1.2 and .9 U-value dependant on their thickness.
Installing double glazing into existing units retains Georgian or Victorian aesthetics while at the same time complying with building regulations. It keeps you warm, reduces condensation, and helps to protect the environment. This technology is BS EN 1279 Compliant, and is suitable for Conservation or Listed Buildings. Sand blasted and opaque glass can be used for bathrooms and privacy etc.
