Overhauling Sash Windows
Paxton ALWAYS looks to recondition the original before replacing with the new.
Often building movement and time has caused the timber of the box frames and sash pairs to twist and bow out of shape. We aim to take a count of this and undertake a full service to optimise the ease of use the window, however it is today. Sometimes perfection is just impossible but we will leave you with effective, running, balanced windows fit for the decades to come.
We will ease and release stuck or ill-fitting sash windows, to operate smoothly and in balance, adjusting the windows to fit squarely in the top, have the meeting rails actually meeting in the middle - even where historical movement has occurred over time.
By using traditional joinery techniques or rebuilding timber sections with an epoxy resin based timber replacement system, as needs suit we find we can often avoid costly new replacements.
We will replace the sash cord as a matter of course, and staff beads and parting beads as part of the draught proofing exercise.
We aim to give your historic windows a "full MOT" and leave them useful and effective for your use.
